Roger Learns to Paint (juvenile fiction)
This is a children’s picture book and a sequel to Roger Meets Sam. Each morning Roger and Sam play the new game that Sam invented. Roger is waiting for Sam to get ready to come play with him. He picks up and stick and scratches the ground. The zookeeper comes along and sees Roger playing with the stick. He gets the idea that he could teach Roger to paint. After all, what can go wrong with that? The cute little elephant’s antics are endearing. However, both Roger and the zookeeper become discouraged. Roger asks Sam for help. The spider teaches Roger some techniques that he uses in making his web. It results in interesting original elephant art. Included at end of the story is a page of facts on elephants and elephant painters.
