J Margotta-Ferrara

Picture
J Margotta-Ferrara is the pen name of Jenny Margotta. The name began when she and her late husband, John—who often wrote under the name John Ferrara—worked as a writing team. Jenny continues to use the pen name in memory of John.

Jenny began telling stories as soon as she could talk, and she began writing stories as soon as she could pick up a pencil in her chubby little hand. Even as a very young child, her imagination took charge, and she shared her world with a myriad of fictional characters and fanciful surroundings.

As an adult, her writing efforts include technical articles and in-house documents written during her years spent in the corporate world, as well as opinion pieces and numerous short stories. She is the co-author of two young-adult, fantasy-adventure novels, Retribution and Resolution, and a unique cookbook, Some Like It Hot . . . the Culinary Adventures of One Hot Momma and One Cool Dude, which she co-authored with her late husband, John.
Jenny is also a professional editor, accepting works in numerous genres from authors across the country. She is winner of CWC’s 2017 Jack London award, the branch’s long-time treasurer, and is very active in nearly every club program. She resides in the High Desert of Southern California.

THE WOMAN IN ROOM 23
Using a creative blend of narrative, dialogue, and letters, the author weaves together the present-day stress of family members caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s and the afflicted woman’s remembrances of key events in her life.

Journey with Maisie Leyden through bittersweet memories, joy, sorrow, heartbreak, and rage as she fights to overcome the loss of her soulmate, survive scandal in a disastrous marriage, and raise her children in a town she despises, all while searching for love, for fulfillment, and ultimately, for  her own identity.

The story is powerful and the descriptions and emotions ring very true. More important is the author’s style: she exhibits flawless control throughout and deft, effortless movement between exposition and action. Her descriptions are evocative without crossing the line of excess . . .  Ms. Margotta-Ferrara has what it takes!

SOME LIKE IT HOT!
This collection of recipes came into being due to a number of not-too-serious disagreements on the best way to prepare—and season—food. SOME LIKE IT HOT! is a unique, information, sometimes humorous compilation of delicious, down-to-earth dishes and baked goods, prepared two distinct ways to satisfy two widely disparate palates. It also includes a few dishes that were “just right” the way they were.

Along with a variety of recipes, included are reminiscences and philosophies about food and wine, tips to improve your cooking and baking skills, and quotes from notable people on the subject of food and eating.

The authors hope you enjoy testing—and experimenting with—the recipes presented here as much as they enjoyed creating them.
