2009 Speakers
Anne B. Fowler, HD CWC Treasurer and Membership Chairman, shared her experience and knowledge of writing query letters, getting work registered, and dealing with editors and agents. The December 12 meeting was a huge success with a Holiday Pot Luck lunch.
Christian author of more than 30 books, Alton Gansky presented the challenge, "What are you working on?" on November 14, 2009 to a record turnout of members and guests.
October 10, 2009 In celebration of the Califonia Writers Club's 100 years of literary history, the HD CWC hosted a panel of Inland Empire authors including (left to right) Diana Sholley, Michael Burgess and Glen Hirshberg. The event was followed by a cake cutting of the Centenial Celebration cake, and a luncheon at the historic Apple Valley Inn.
September 12. 2009 Holly LaPat, writing under the pen name of Sierra Donovan, spoke to the members and guests on the classic forties film, Casablanca.
August 8, 2009 George A. Robinson, CWC past president, gave a PowerPoint presentation, "Nomenclature of Poetry" to members and guests at our August 2009 meeting.
July 11, 2009 Bob Isbill, HDCWC Vice President and Publicity Chairman, gave a presentation of "Bits and Pieces" -- thoughts and ideas that have inspired him with creative sparks.
Mike Foley was featured as our guest speaker in June 2009: "Writing Dialogue"
Mike Foley is Editor of Dream Merchant Magazine and author of more than 700 published stories and articles. He also teaches fiction and nonfiction writing at the extension program of UC Riverside. Since 1986, he has operated the Writer's Review critique servoce, helping hundreds of aspiring writers improve their fiction and nonfiction projects.

Liz Babcock is a member of the Ridgecrest CWC.
January 2009 Stephen J. Wersan, Poet, Author of "Smooth Stones on the Bottom", a collection of poetry.
Dr. Wersan holds an engineering Ph.D. from Northwestern University. His interest in poetry dates back to the early eighties. He is an associate member of the California Writers Club in Ridgecrest.
