I’m John Garner. I'm a retired veteran and high school football coach. I joined the HDCWC Wordsmiths critique group in 2012, and through their support and guidance, especially that of Jenny Margotta, Richard Zone, and Mary Langer Thompson, I have self-published four books and unpublished four. I recently launched a uniquely formatted book about a high school football team winning a state championship. I am currently working on a book about acts of kindness and their importance in our lives. It’s entitled, “Slices of Life.”

Win the Day
that comeback season
|
It’s gut-check time . . . a race against the clock. Betrayed by his wife, with another man and sabotaged and threatened by a younger coach in the year he’s supposed to die, Gabriel Messenger must make good on his second chance at love, life, and coaching, while the amazing widow he meets online seeks a romantic and wants to be in love by Christmas. Considered “smooth” and “spectacular” by two judges at the Georgia Romance Writers competition, Book One begins Gabriel’s battle to beat his fear of failing and defeat his disease in its deadliest year. To win, he does what he loves: he coaches, he writes and he runs. Twice a day. And, at night, he races a train.
